Powell has been given the distinction of named a Tree City USA city for 28 years by the Arbor Day Foundation program in cooperation with US Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. What does that mean? Powell, WY has "achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day" according to the Arbor Day Foundation.
