A walk up the Heart Mountain trail is always an adventure with many plants beginning to bloom and wildlife sightings are common. You can hike for as long or short as you choose. Be prepared for a full day outdoors and a strenuous and steep hike of approximately 8 miles round-trip if you choose to summit the mountain. Please bring water, your own lunch, sunscreen, clothing for inclement weather, and bear spray if you have it. Powell Valley Healthcare will provide extra water and granola bars halfway up the trail.
Local experts will join the hike to address some of the lesser-known facts about the mountain’s unique geology, history and plant and animal life, as well as the intricacies of the management of this local landmark.
Hikers will meet at 8: A.M. at the preserve headquarters. We'll be serving coffee and muffins to fortify you for your hike!
