Join us for a unique experience: a special concert in our original Heart Mountain barrack featuring acclaimed indie rock artist Kishi Bashi, singer-songwriter Julian Saporiti, and singer Erin Aoyama. ***Space is limited for this intimate performance, so reservations are requested. Kishi Bashi is an internationally touring singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter; Julian Saporiti is a current doctoral student at Brown University and lecturer at the University of Wyoming; Erin Aoyama is a Brown University doctoral student whose grandmother was incarcerated at Heart Mountain during World War II. Kishi Bashi will perform stripped down selections from his rich catalogue of intricate indie-orchestral pop, while Saporiti will perform songs from his No-No Boy project which transforms his research on Japanese Incarceration into songs. These performances are part of an ongoing collaboration between Kishi Bashi and Julian Saporiti, begun this summer as they, along with other Brown doctoral students, traveled to different sites of incarceration to explore Asian-American history and identity through music and scholarship.
